The National Junior Honor Society
The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
The National Honor Society (NHS)
The National Honor Society (NHS) is a nationwide organization for high school students in the United States and outlying territories, which consists of many chapters in high schools. Selection is based on four criteria: scholarship (academic achievement), leadership, service, and character.
Mu Alpha Theta
Mu Alpha Theta, the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society, was formed in 1957 at the University of Oklahoma. Mu Alpha Theta is dedicated to inspiring a keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school.
Tri-M Music Honor Society (Tri-M)
Tri-M (Modern Music Masters) is the national Music Honor Society. The Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter here at Franklin Academy opens up a world of opportunities for students who have already shown themselves to be academically capable and musically gifted. Through performance and community service, they’ll develop confidence, creativity, critical thinking, compassion, and a host of other leadership skills sure to serve them well in school and beyond. Tri-M meetings taking place on the first Monday of every month after school. Tri-M is only currently available for High School students. The annual membership fee is $50, and the application process requires the application, 2 recommendation letters from non-music teachers, and a minimum GPA of 3.0. Once inducted, music honor society members will not need to re-apply, only pay the annual membership fee of $50.
Science National Honor Society
The Science National Honor Society encourages participation in and recognition of scientific and intellectual thought, advances the students’ knowledge of classical and modern science, provides communicates with the scientific community, aids the civic community with its comprehension of science, and encourages students to participate in community service and, in turn, encourages a dedication to the pursuit of scientific knowledge that benefits all mankind.
Thespian Honor Society
The Thespian Honor Society is an international organization that recognizes, celebrates, and promotes student achievement in theatre. Members gain opportunities to perform, participate in productions, attend workshops, and help bring the arts to our school and community. Being a part of Thespians means developing leadership, teamwork, and creativity while celebrating a love for the performing arts.
Membership requires a $35 entrance fee and a $15 recurring fee afterward. There is no GPA requirement—our society is open to all students who are passionate about theatre and willing to get involved.
Once inducted, students remain members for their entire high school career, with only the recurring membership fee required.
